Peters Powers Offense
Tristan Peters delivered a dominant offensive performance, hitting two home runs and driving in four runs as the Chicago White Sox defeated the Texas Rangers 11-7 at Rate Field. The win improved the White Sox record to 69-63, while the Rangers fell to 66-67.
Peters opened the scoring in the first inning with a double that brought two runs home. He later added a solo home run in the sixth inning, extending Chicago's lead. His four RBIs were crucial in establishing an early advantage that Texas could never overcome.
Early Inning Surge
The White Sox struck first in the top of the first inning. A throwing error by Rangers left fielder Langford allowed Nick Antonacci to score. Vargas reached second, and Murakami reached third on the play. B. Montgomery then singled, scoring Murakami. Peters followed with a double, driving in two more runs. Doyle added another run with a single, giving Chicago a 6-0 lead.
Texas responded in the bottom of the second when Chris Burger homered to center field, cutting the deficit to 6-1. The Rangers managed to score again in the fourth inning. C. Montgomery singled, and Antonacci scored. Meidroth then singled, bringing B. Montgomery home for a 8-1 advantage.
White Sox Extend Lead
Chicago’s offense exploded in the fifth inning. Jansen homered to left field, scoring Freeman. Duran singled, scoring Foscue. Antonacci tripled, scoring Romo, and Vargas singled to bring Antonacci home, making it 10-4. In the sixth, Jansen doubled, scoring Pederson. Foscue homered, scoring Jansen, and Peters homered to right field, finalizing the 11-7 score.
Pitching Performances
Jacob deGrom took the loss for Texas, pitching 3.2 innings while allowing six hits, eight earned runs, five walks, and two strikeouts. Cole Winn pitched 1.1 innings, giving up five hits and two earned runs. Peyton Gray allowed two hits and one earned run in one inning. Jordan Montgomery and Tyler Alexander each pitched one inning without allowing an earned run.
For Chicago, Anthony Kay pitched 4.2 innings, giving up six hits and four earned runs. Jordan Hicks pitched one inning, allowing four hits and three earned runs. Bryan Hudson earned the win with 1.1 perfect innings, striking out no batters. Hagen Smith pitched 1.2 innings, allowing one hit and three walks. Grant Taylor secured the save with 0.1 scoreless innings.
The game drew an attendance of 19,892 spectators to Rate Field.
