Canzone drives in four runs

Dominic Canzone accounted for four of Seattle’s six runs, delivering a pivotal three-run home run and later adding an RBI double to secure the win. His performance helped the Mariners overcome an early deficit to defeat the Texas Rangers 6-4 at Globe Life Field on Sunday.

Rangers strike first, Mariners answer

The Mariners took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Andrew Vaughn hit a sacrifice fly to center field, allowing Triston García to score. The Rangers tied the game in the bottom of the third when Adolis García singled to left field, bringing Marcus Semien home to make it 1-1.

Seattle regained the lead in the fourth inning. Corey Seager singled to right, scoring Josh Smith, who had reached base earlier. The Mariners added another run in the same inning when Evan Carter reached on an infield single to second, scoring Seager to make it 3-1.

Canzone’s homer shifts momentum

The game turned in the seventh inning when Canzone launched a 400-foot home run to right field. The blast cleared the bases, scoring Emerson and Young to give Seattle a 4-3 advantage. Canzone extended the lead later in the inning with a solo home run to right-center field, pushing the score to 5-3.

The Rangers responded in the eighth inning when Duran hit a 420-foot home run to left field, narrowing the gap to 5-4. However, Seattle’s bullpen held firm to preserve the lead.

Pitching highlights and final score

Logan Gilbert started for Seattle, pitching 5.2 innings and allowing three earned runs on five hits with four strikeouts. Gabe Speier earned the win with 1.1 perfect innings, while Eduard Bazardo recorded the save with one scoreless frame. Andres Munoz closed the game with a 1-2-3 ninth inning, striking out three batters.

For Texas, Jacob deGrom started on the mound, throwing 5.0 innings with one earned run allowed on seven hits and four strikeouts. The Rangers’ bullpen struggled in the late innings, with Tyler Alexander and Cole Winn giving up key runs. Ben Peoples and Peyton Gray pitched scoreless innings to end the game.
