Greene Provides Early Spark
A first-inning home run by Greene set the tone for Detroit’s complete team victory on Saturday at Globe Life Field. Greene launched a 386-foot shot to right field, driving in Carpenter to give the visiting Tigers an early 2-0 lead. The two-run blast proved to be the decisive offensive output for Detroit, as the Rangers’ lineup could not generate any runs of their own against the Tigers’ pitching staff.
Pitching Dominance Defines Game
Detroit’s bullpen and starter combined to hold Texas scoreless, allowing only three total hits throughout the contest. Jack Flaherty earned the win, pitching 5.2 innings and striking out five batters while allowing two earned runs. He was supported by a relief corps that kept the Rangers off the board after Flaherty’s departure. Tyler Holton pitched 0.1 innings with a hold, and Keider Montero secured the save with three perfect innings of work, walking one batter but striking out none.
For Texas, Cal Quantrill took the loss after pitching five innings and allowing two earned runs on three hits. Tyler Alexander, Benjamin Peoples, and Chris Martin combined for 4.0 innings of relief, allowing no earned runs and striking out four batters in total. Despite the strong relief performance, the Rangers lacked the offensive firepower to capitalize on their opportunities.
