Alonso’s Two Homers Lead Orioles Past Rangers 10-5

Early Power Surge

Pete Alonso delivered a pivotal offensive performance, launching two home runs to help the Baltimore Orioles secure a 10-5 victory over the Texas Rangers. The win improved the Orioles’ record to 57-61, while the Rangers fell to .500 at 59-59.

Baltimore established its lead early in the first inning. After Beavers reached on an infield single to first, Alonso drove him home with a run. Taveras followed with a double to right, scoring Beavers and putting Holliday in scoring position. The frame ended with the Orioles ahead 2-0.

Offensive Explosion

The Orioles extended their advantage in the second inning. Cowser homered to center field for a 3-0 lead. Shortly after, Alonso provided another boost by hitting a home run to left field that also scored Henderson, pushing the margin to 5-0.

Texas responded with significant power of its own in the third inning. Nimmo hit a home run to center field, bringing home Langford and Duran to make it 5-3. However, Baltimore answered quickly in the fourth inning when Alonso completed his two-homer day with a blast to left-center field that scored Henderson, restoring the five-run lead at 7-3.

Late Innings and Pitching

The Orioles continued to pile on runs in the sixth inning. O'Neill homered to center field, scoring Holliday to make it 9-3. The offense remained active in the ninth inning when Cowser walked and Beavers scored to bring the total to 10-3.

Texas managed to add three runs in the bottom of the ninth. Lopez tripled to center field, allowing Cauley to score for a 10-4 count. Duran then grounded out to third, but Lopez crossed home plate to finalize the scoring at 10-5.

Pitching Performances

For Baltimore, Yaramil Hiraldo earned the win (1-0) by pitching two innings without allowing an earned run while striking out three batters. Andrew Kittredge secured the final outs with a perfect inning, retiring the side in order with no hits or walks allowed. Alex Hoppe also contributed with one scoreless inning, and Albert Suarez pitched two innings, though he allowed two earned runs.

Texas starter Kumar Rocker took the loss (4-9) after allowing six earned runs on seven hits over three innings, striking out five batters. Jordan Montgomery pitched four innings, giving up three earned runs on six hits with one walk and two strikeouts. Cole Winn relieved him, pitching two innings and allowing one earned run on two hits while striking out three batters.

The game was played at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, before a crowd of 35,334 spectators.
