Joc Pederson delivered a pivotal offensive performance, launching two home runs to lead the Texas Rangers to a 7-3 victory over the Seattle Mariners. The slugger’s first blast in the opening frame provided an early spark, while his second multi-run shot in the second inning shifted momentum decisively toward Arlington.
Pederson’s debut of the night came in the top of the first inning, sending a ball 418 feet to center field for a solo home run. This gave Seattle an initial 1-0 lead. However, the Rangers responded immediately with their own power surge.
In the bottom of the second, Pederson connected again, this time driving the ball 347 feet to right field. That hit scored Lopez and Díaz, putting Texas ahead 4-1.
Pitching Struggles and Relief
Seattle’s starting pitcher George Kirby faced a difficult outing at Globe Life Field. Kirby pitched four innings but allowed seven runs on seven hits, all of which were earned. He issued no walks but struck out three batters before taking the loss, dropping his record to 8-9.
The Mariners’ bullpen attempted to stabilize the game but could not contain the Rangers’ offense. Jose Ferrer, Michael Rucker, Cole Wilcox, and Alex Hoppe combined for four innings of relief. While they prevented any additional runs from scoring during their tenure, they surrendered five hits and one walk among them. Hoppe recorded three strikeouts in his inning of work.
For Texas, Kumar Rocker earned the win by pitching six and two-thirds innings. He allowed two earned runs on four hits while walking two batters and striking out seven. Robby Ahlstrom contributed a perfect third of an inning, followed by Jakob Junis who pitched a full inning allowing one hit and one walk.
