Eovaldi Secures Ninth Victory

Nathan Eovaldi secured his ninth win of the season, pitching five innings for the Texas Rangers in their 10-4 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Friday. Eovaldi allowed three earned runs on six hits while striking out nine batters. His performance provided the foundation for an offense that exploded for five home runs throughout the contest.

Rangers Offense Explodes

The Rangers took control early, scoring four runs in the second inning. Díaz opened the scoring with a home run to left center, followed by a run on a walk by Jung that brought Osuna home. Duran added another run with a sacrifice fly to right, and Jung doubled later in the inning to score Lopez, extending the lead.

The Rangers increased their advantage in the fifth inning. After Keith homered to right center to make it 3-1, Lee launched a two-run shot to left center, pushing the score to 5-1. Smith added a solo home run to right in the sixth, making it 6-1. The Rangers continued to pile on runs in the seventh inning. Osuna singled to left, scoring Carter, and Lopez followed with a single to right, scoring Díaz. Smith reached on an infield single, allowing Osuna to score from third base, making it 9-1.

Tigers Score Late

The Tigers managed to put runs on the board in the fifth inning when Keith homered to right center, making the score 3-1. Later, in the eighth inning, Malgeri singled to center to score McKinstry, and Carter homered to center to make the final score 10-4. Despite the late runs, the Tigers could not overcome the early deficit.

Pitching and Final Notes

Detroit Tigers relievers Beau Brieske, Drew Sommers, Kenley Jansen, and Kyle Finnegan combined for 3.2 innings, allowing four hits and five earned runs. Framber Valdez started for Detroit, taking the loss with a 4-6 record after allowing five earned runs in five innings.

The Rangers bullpen provided support behind Eovaldi. Tyler Alexander, Peyton Gray, and Robby Ahlstrom each pitched 0.2 innings without allowing an earned run. Cole Winn pitched one inning, allowing one earned run, and Gavin Collyer closed out the game with a perfect inning. The final score was 10-4, with the Rangers improving to 45-43 and the Tigers falling to 38-50. Attendance at Globe Life Field was 33,450.
