Baylor University women's tennis team has officially signed Gao Duanrui for the 2026-27 season, as announced by head coach Joey Scrivano. Scrivano expressed enthusiasm about Duanrui's potential, stating, "We're excited to welcome Gao to Baylor. She's a hardworking athlete with great mental toughness and a real passion for improving.
I truly believe she's only scratching the surface of what she can become as a tennis player."
Duanrui, hailing from Tianjin, China, has achieved career-high rankings of No. 1,186 in singles and No. 1,435 in doubles on the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) circuit. Throughout her professional career, she has secured 52 singles victories, including notable wins in the main draws at the 2026 M15 Tianjin and the 2025 W15 events in Luan and Maanshan.
In doubles, Duanrui has reached the quarterfinals five times, with her appearances at the 2026 W15 Tianjin and three separate quarterfinals at the 2025 W15 Luan events, as well as another quarterfinal run at the 2025 W15 Maanshan.
The Baylor women's tennis team concluded the 2025 season ranked No. 34 in the ITA Year-End team rankings. The season was highlighted by the program's 27th appearance in the NCAA Tournament, its 19th trip to the second round, and the recognition of four players as All-Big 12 selections.
