Voters in Fort Worth and the rest of Tarrant County can ride Trinity Metro without paying a fare to reach the polls this fall, the transit agency announced this week.
The program, which Trinity Metro calls "Let's Ride to Vote!", covers both early voting, Monday, Oct. 19, through Friday, Oct. 30, and Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
During early voting
Riders who use the GoPass app can type in the code VOTE26 to get one complimentary Trinity Metro Local Day Pass, then activate it when they are ready to board, according to the agency's announcement as reported by The Dallas Morning News and FOX 4.
People who do not use the app can pick up a paper day pass from Fort Worth Central Station's customer service kiosk.
The same code works in the Trinity Metro Bikes app for a free ride. Customers who book an On-Demand rideshare or paratransit trip to an early voting site inside the service zone get the round trip at no charge automatically, with no code needed.
On Election Day
On Nov. 3, the process is simpler. Riders tell the bus driver or train conductor that they are traveling to or from a polling place. That applies on local bus service, TEXRail and Trinity Railway Express stations in Tarrant County.
