At least eight electric vehicles were badly damaged Friday evening when a fire swept across part of the lot at Frank Kent Cadillac in west Fort Worth.
The fire was reported around 5 p.m. Oct. 9 at the dealership on West Loop 820 near Camp Bowie Boulevard. Officials told WFAA the fire began in one vehicle and spread to others. In addition to the eight vehicles with extensive damage, two more were exposed to the flames.
Fire officials said it was the most electric vehicles the Fort Worth Fire Department has had to fight burning at the same time. Extra companies were sent to the scene carrying blankets made to cover electric vehicle fires, the department told WFAA.
Crews stayed at the lot for hours. DFW Scanner reported that four fire units were still there more than five hours after the first call, according to a Dallas Express report syndicated on Yahoo.
No one was hurt, the dealership said in a Facebook statement Friday night. Frank Kent Cadillac thanked firefighters for keeping the fire from reaching neighboring businesses or nearby grassland and singled out the crew of Fire Station 23, which it said it plans to feed in the coming days.
