The Houston Texans will be without wide receiver Jayden Higgins for the entire 2026 NFL season following a torn ACL injury sustained during a joint practice with the Las Vegas Raiders. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Wednesday that Higgins, a second-year player, will undergo rehabilitation throughout the season.
Higgins was selected as the No. 34 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and had a productive rookie season, recording 41 receptions for 525 yards and six touchdowns. His performance improved significantly after Tank Dell's injury late in the 2024 season, leading to an increased role in the Texans' offense alongside quarterback C.J. Stroud and fellow receiver Nico Collins.
During the 2025 season, Higgins caught 41 of 68 targets, benefiting from a heightened target share as the team closed the regular season with a nine-game winning streak. His late-season surge included scoring four touchdowns in the final weeks and achieving his highest yardage totals in Weeks 13 and 17.
With Higgins sidelined, the Texans will look to players like Xavier Hutchinson, Jaylin Noel, and Justin Watson to step up in the receiving corps. The team remains hopeful that Tank Dell, who is also recovering from an injury, may be able to contribute at some point during the season.
