The city's first Michelin star went to a barbecue joint.
Goldee's Bar-B-Q, at 4645 Dick Price Road in southeast Fort Worth, was promoted to one star in the 2026 Michelin Guide Texas, which the guide released Thursday, Oct. 8. In last year's Texas selection, Goldee's held a Bib Gourmand, the guide's label for strong cooking at a moderate price.
The 2024 and 2025 guides gave no stars to any Fort Worth restaurant, the Fort Worth Business Press reported.
What the inspectors liked
Michelin's write-up singles out the Black Angus brisket, smoked low and slow over local post oak, and calls it meltingly tender. The inspectors also praised the turkey, the jalapeño-cheddar sausage, the old-school potato salad, brisket-studded beans and a banana pudding made with house-made vanilla wafer crumbles.
The guide points out that Goldee's keeps short hours on just a handful of days each week and that diners may stand in line for hours.
According to Michelin, a group of friends started Goldee's in 2019, and it began serving in 2020. The Business Press lists its owners as pitmasters Jalen Heard, Lane Milne, Nupohn Inthanousay, Dylan Taylor and Zain Shafi.
The rest of the Texas list
The 2026 Texas guide has 19 one-star restaurants and, for a third straight year, none with two or three stars. Goldee's is one of three new one-star entries statewide, along with Fabrik, a vegan restaurant in Austin that was also promoted, and Kappo Kappo, a French-Japanese counter in Austin that is new to the guide.
