Shadre Hurst, an offensive guard for the University of Houston Football team, has been recognized as a member of the Preseason AP All-American First-Team. This announcement was made on Tuesday.

Earlier this month, Hurst was also included on the Lombardi Trophy and Outland Trophy Preseason Watch Lists. He previously played under head coach Willie Fritz and offensive line coach Eman Naghavi at Tulane, where he earned All-American and Freshman All-American honors, along with All-AAC accolades in The American Conference.

Hurst has demonstrated impressive performance metrics, holding an 80.0 pass block grade since 2023, which ranks him second among active FBS linemen. Throughout over 1,200 passing snaps, he has allowed only one sack. In 2025, he was recognized as the top graded offensive lineman in the American Athletic Conference and the sixth highest graded guard nationally by Pro Football Focus (PFF).

During his time at Tulane, Hurst contributed to the team winning three conference titles in 2022, 2023, and 2025, while maintaining a strong record of allowing just one sack over four seasons.

The Cougars are set to kick off their new college football season on September 5, hosting Oregon State at TDECU Stadium, with the game scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
