The Houston Texans are looking for additional pass rushing support as they deal with injuries to key players, including Jadeveon Clowney and Logan Hall. On August 22, KPRC 2’s Aaron Wilson reported that the Texans worked out defensive end Devean Deal, an undrafted free agent from TCU who previously spent time with the Seattle Seahawks.

During his college career, Deal recorded a total of 176 tackles and 13.0 sacks over two seasons at TCU and three seasons at Tulane. Although the Texans signed linebacker Caleb Johnson, they are actively seeking other ways to strengthen their roster amid injury challenges.

The interest in Deal raises questions about the health status of other players on the team. Clowney and Hall's absences were noted, but the reasons for their absence were not specified. The Texans are currently short-handed at linebacker, and any further injuries could significantly impact their defensive lineup as they prepare for the upcoming season.

Deal was previously signed by the Seahawks but was waived to create roster space for new receivers. The Texans are in a similar position, having recently signed veteran receivers Sterling Shepard and Zay Jones while placing linebacker K.C. Ossai on injured reserve. The team is hopeful that they can recover from their injury woes before their regular-season opener against the Buffalo Bills.

As of now, Devean Deal has not been signed, but his potential availability is something the Texans will keep in mind as they navigate their current roster challenges.
