The Dallas Cowboys had another incident at practice on Thursday, just two days after a joint session with the New Orleans Saints resulted in multiple fights and fines for both teams. The latest skirmish occurred between tight end Jake Ferguson and linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, according to Jon Machota of The Athletic.
The confrontation reportedly began when Ferguson reacted to a tackle by throwing the ball at Overshown, leading to a brief altercation. Fortunately, the situation was quickly de-escalated, and it did not escalate further.
This latest incident comes on the heels of the NFL announcing fines of $500,000 each for the Cowboys and Saints due to the heated joint practice earlier in the week, which saw over ten fights, including punches thrown and a body slam.
One notable incident involved Cowboys edge rusher Donovan Ezeiruaku, who was ejected from practice for throwing a punch, marking his second ejection during training camp.
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer expressed frustration over the fights, stating that they detracted from the team's practice objectives. "Nobody wants this. We want to get the work in," Schottenheimer said, acknowledging that the early skirmishes disrupted the team's focus on necessary practice work.
