Murakami's Historic Night
Matt Murakami delivered a dominant offensive performance, hitting three home runs and driving in six runs to lead the Chicago White Sox to a 12-3 victory over the Houston Astros. The slugger’s power display was the centerpiece of a high-scoring affair at Rate Field, where the White Sox overwhelmed Houston’s pitching staff from the opening inning.
Murakami’s first home run came in the bottom of the first inning, a 385-foot shot to left field that also scored Andrew Antonacci, giving Chicago a 2-1 lead. He added another solo shot in the eighth inning, a 398-foot blast to right-center field, extending the White Sox lead to 12-3.
His most impactful hit came in the seventh inning. Murakami singled to center field, allowing Yordan Romo and Andrew Perez to score. Later in the same inning, Murakami scored on a single by Benintendi, completing his three-hit, six-RBI night. His performance included two multi-run hits, one a solo home run and the other a single that drove in two runs.
White Sox Offense Explodes Early
Chicago’s offense was active throughout the game, with multiple players contributing to the final score. Michael Peña also provided significant power, hitting two home runs. His first was a 393-foot shot to left field in the top of the first inning, giving the White Sox an early 1-0 lead.
Peña’s second home run, a 394-foot blast to right-center field in the third inning, tied the game at 2-2 before Murakami’s RBI groundout in the same inning restored Chicago’s lead.
Other key hits included a solo home run by Trammell in the fifth inning, a two-run homer by Vargas in the sixth, and a solo shot by Meidroth in the seventh. Andrew Perez also went deep, hitting a two-run home run in the eighth inning that helped seal the victory.
