American Airlines and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport have inaugurated a new pier at Terminal C, marking the latest step in an ongoing effort to expand and modernize the airline’s primary hub. The new section includes nine electronic boarding gates, along with updated passenger amenities such as additional seating, renovated restrooms, and new food and beverage options.
The layout has been redesigned to improve the overall flow for travelers.
The construction project took two years to complete and utilized modular methods, allowing much of the work to be finished off-site before installation. This expansion adds four new gates and reconstructs five existing ones, increasing operational capacity at one of the airport’s busiest terminals.
According to American Airlines, the new gates serve as an early preview of a full redevelopment of Terminal C planned for the coming years.
Jim Moses, Senior Vice President of DFW Operations at American Airlines, stated that the project supports the airline’s long-term growth plans while improving facilities for passengers. Amanda Zhang, Vice President of Corporate Real Estate at American Airlines, noted that the investment is part of a broader strategy to support future growth at the Dallas-Fort Worth hub.
Chris McLaughlin, Chief Executive Officer of DFW Airport, said the expansion reflects ongoing efforts to increase airport capacity and improve the travel experience.
