A homebuilder founded in Fort Worth is joining Century Communities in a deal that will combine the companies’ Dallas-Fort Worth operations into one Grapevine-based division.

Century announced Oct. 8 that it acquired substantially all assets of HMH Lifestyles, which operates as HistoryMaker Homes. The company says the purchase triples its number of communities in the metroplex.

HistoryMaker was founded in Fort Worth in 1949 and is headquartered in Grapevine. Its division leaders and employees will join Century as the businesses combine their local operations.

For buyers already under contract, Century says their local HistoryMaker teams will remain their contacts. The announcement says construction, sales and closings will continue on schedule.

The transaction also includes a development relationship with Jabez Development, HistoryMaker’s sister company. Jabez will finish work in selected Century communities, and the companies expect to pursue additional local opportunities together. Jabez and the related build-to-rent business ONM Living will remain independently owned.
