Fort Worth-based American Airlines plans to bring Starlink internet to its entire mainline fleet, with installations beginning in early 2027. The airline announced the expanded agreement Thursday, Oct. 8.
The plan covers more than 1,000 Airbus and Boeing jets, including both narrowbody and widebody aircraft. It expands a May commitment covering more than 500 Airbus planes.
For travelers, the important timing distinction is that early 2027 marks the start of installations. American’s announcement does not give a fleetwide completion date or promise the service on a particular flight.
The stated scope is American’s mainline fleet; the announcement does not extend that commitment to every regional American Eagle aircraft.
