American Airlines and Citi are broadening their commercial relationship by integrating Citi branding into the American Airlines Admirals Club lounge network. The initiative involves placing Citi signage at lounge entrances in the United States, with the rollout scheduled to begin in April. Additional locations are expected to be added throughout 2026.
The expansion targets several major aviation hubs. Travelers at Chicago O’Hare International Airport, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, Los Angeles International Airport, and Miami International Airport will be the first to encounter the new branding. This move builds upon a collaboration between the two companies that has lasted nearly four decades. Citi continues to serve as the exclusive issuer of the AAdvantage co-branded credit card portfolio within the United States.
Scott Long, senior vice president of AAdvantage at American Airlines, stated that the partnership aims to align customer benefits across the travel and financial experience. He noted that holders of co-branded cards already receive specific advantages, such as earning Loyalty Points and advancing through status tiers within the loyalty program.
Access to the Admirals Club lounges is available through several methods. Eligible individuals include those with paid memberships, passengers holding specific oneworld alliance status, and holders of designated credit cards. The Citi / AAdvantage Executive World Elite Mastercard provides lounge access as a standard benefit. Holders of the Citi / AAdvantage Globe Mastercard and the Citi Strata Elite card may redeem annual passes for entry, with each pass valid for a 24-hour period. Travelers without these specific cards or memberships can purchase a one-day pass for 24 hours using cash or AAdvantage miles.
The lounges provide amenities such as shower suites, bar service, and workspaces. This branding update follows recent improvements to the lounge experience, including new beverage partnerships, regionally influenced menus, and space expansions at airports in Austin, Charlotte, and Washington, D.C. The AAdvantage program allows members to earn miles through flights, credit card spending, and partner services, which can be redeemed for travel or used to qualify for status.
