BNSF Railway has officially started construction on the Camp Howze Rail Park, a 126-acre industrial development located in Gainesville, Texas. The project is part of the company's Site Certification program, which is designed to evaluate and prepare sites for rapid acquisition and development.
The facility will include a transload area covering more than 30 acres to facilitate the transfer of goods between rail and truck transport. Additionally, a freight-forwarding building with 200,000 square feet of space is planned for the site. The property will have direct access to BNSF rail lines and is projected to support up to 7 million square feet of future industrial development.
BNSF described the project as one of the largest rail-served industrial sites in the region. The company stated that the development aims to help businesses establish and expand more quickly, thereby encouraging new investment in Gainesville, Cooke County, and Texas.
Scott Bates, BNSF vice president of economic development, noted that the modern rail infrastructure is intended to speed up development timelines and attract industries that contribute to local economic strength and long-term growth.
Operations at the rail park are scheduled to commence in the second quarter of 2027. The ground-breaking ceremony was attended by state leaders and representatives from Camp Howze Development Partners, the city of Gainesville, the Gainesville Economic Development Corporation, Cooke County, and North Central Texas College.
