Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz could take on a larger role in Week 2 if wide receiver Nico Collins is unable to play against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Collins sustained a hamstring injury during practice and later saw doctors, according to a report by ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Texans do not believe the injury is serious, but Collins' availability for the game remains uncertain.
The potential absence would alter Houston's receiving group and could create more opportunities for Schultz. He is the Texans' top tight end and finished the 2025 season as the team's receptions leader, with 82 catches for 777 yards.
Schultz also received significant involvement when Collins missed part of last season. After Collins suffered a concussion against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 7, Schultz led Houston with 10 targets and made nine catches, described in the report as his largest performance of the season.
Collins' injury history includes a Grade 2 hamstring strain in 2024 that led to a stint on injured reserve. Whether he will miss the Bengals game was not yet clear in the report.
