The Houston Texans have signed former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Mitchell Tinsley to their practice squad, as reported by Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team on August 31. Tinsley, who is 26 years old and stands 6 feet 1 inch tall, had a productive season last year, recording eight receptions for 116 yards and two touchdowns.

His departure from the Bengals comes as the team sought to streamline its wide receiver roster, which is currently deep with talent.

In reaction to Tinsley's signing, Paul Dehner Jr. from The Athletic noted that Tinsley has a clearer opportunity to play in Houston, where the team has been actively seeking to enhance its wide receiver depth following an injury to Jayden Higgins, who suffered a torn ACL.

The Texans have also made a trade for Kayshon Boutte, previously with the New England Patriots, as part of their efforts to address the wide receiver position.

Tinsley, an undrafted free agent, has made four starts in his 19 regular-season games to date. He is recognized as a possession receiver, noted for his quality ball skills, though he lacks top-end speed and separation quickness.

NFL.com analyst Lance Zierlein described Tinsley as a willing player in the middle of the field with the ability to make difficult catches, but indicated that his athletic limitations may confine him to a zone-beater role from the slot.

With Tinsley's addition, the Texans now have three wide receivers on their practice squad, including Lewis Bond and Josh Kelly. Tinsley's standout preseason performance in 2025 helped him secure a roster spot with the Bengals, and he will now look to contribute to Houston's receiving corps as they navigate the challenges of the current season.
