The Houston Texans have completed a trade with the New England Patriots, acquiring wide receiver Kayshon Boutte. The deal also includes safety Jaylen Reed and a seventh-round pick in the 2028 NFL Draft.
Boutte, who will continue to play in the AFC, is expected to fill a gap in the Texans' receiving corps following the injury of wide receiver Jayden Higgins, who tore his ACL during a joint practice with the Raiders on August 19.
Higgins, a former second-round pick, was coming off a rookie season where he caught 41 passes for 525 yards and six touchdowns, but will now focus on recovery.
The 2023 sixth-round draft pick, Boutte, has spent his entire career with the Patriots. He had a limited role as a rookie, appearing in just five games, but significantly increased his contributions in the following seasons. Over the 2024 and 2025 seasons, he played in 29 games, accumulating over 500 receiving yards in each year and catching a total of nine touchdown passes.
Despite his contributions, Boutte's position on the Patriots' roster became uncertain after the team acquired wide receiver AJ Brown from the Eagles and signed Romeo Doubs from the Packers during the offseason.
