Fort Worth's fall citywide litter cleanup is Saturday, Oct. 17, and the city is pairing it with a free scrap tire collection for residents.

Keep Fort Worth Beautiful runs the Neighborhood Litter Stomp each fall. Volunteers register, choose a street, park, creek or other public spot to clean, and pick up litter that morning, either on their own or with a group. Anyone unsure where to go can join the city's hub at Trinity Park, Pavilion No. 4.

Supplies and registration

Registration is through an online form on the city's Litter Stomp page. Registered volunteers get free gloves, trash bags and event T-shirts while supplies last. Pickup is at the Business Assistance Center, 1150 South Freeway:

  • Wednesday, Oct. 14, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Thursday, Oct. 15, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Friday, Oct. 16, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The city says equipment is available on request for older volunteers and people with disabilities or mobility concerns. Groups can take full bags to a city drop-off station, with free vouchers on request, or report piles for pickup through the MyFW app or by calling 817-392-1234.

Tire collection

From 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 17, residents can drop off unwanted tires at the Hazel Harvey Peace Center for Neighborhoods, 818 Missouri Ave. Volunteers do not have to take part in the cleanup to use it.

The city accepts tires from passenger vehicles, including cars, pickups, motorcycles and SUVs; small rubber tires from bicycles, scooters, dollies and lawnmowers; and rims, preferably removed from the tires. Tires should be free of dirt, water, oil and paint.

Tires from businesses, commercial vehicles, 18-wheelers and tractors will not be accepted. The city says the collection is part of its work against illegal dumping and that the tires will be processed into reusable rubber material.

Questions go to Keep Fort Worth Beautiful at 817-392-2046 or KFWB@fortworthtexas.gov.
