The Dallas Cowboys have made the difficult decision to cut cornerback Josh Butler from their roster as part of their 53-man roster adjustments. Butler, who had been with the team for three years, previously navigated through two spring football leagues before joining the Cowboys in 2023.
Following his release, Butler expressed his gratitude and highlighted his performance on social media. He stated, "At the end of the day! My entire time with the Cowboys I've never given up a single touchdown preseason or regular season or a pass over 20 yards.
Did the impossible rekindling my football career after 4 years out of college. Made history! & so much more. I'm super grateful for my hometown team love yall forever."
During the preseason, Butler showcased his skills with six tackles and proved to be a reliable cornerback during the three games in August. Over the last three years, he participated in six games, primarily in 2024 and 2025, accumulating 26 tackles, five pass deflections, and one sack.
However, he did not play in 2023 due to an ACL injury that sidelined him for most of the 2025 season.
