Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway is expected to sit out the team’s upcoming game with Louisiana Tech, but a return could come Sept. 26 when the Bears open Big 12 play against Colorado and coach Deion Sanders’ Buffaloes.
Pete Nakos of On3 Sports reported that Lagway is progressing toward playing in the Colorado matchup. His availability for that game has not been confirmed.
Lagway suffered an ankle sprain during Baylor’s 17-16 loss to Auburn in the season opener. The junior quarterback then missed the Bears’ second-week game, a 44-3 victory over Prairie View.
Baylor coach Dave Aranda previously described Lagway’s status as day to day. A report cited by ClutchPoints also said Lagway had been attempting to play through the injury, while the team weighed his recovery with conference competition approaching.
Lagway’s exact return date remains unclear. ClutchPoints published the injury update.
