Six Flags Is Moving Its Headquarters Back to Arlington

Six Flags Entertainment Corporation is bringing its corporate headquarters back to Arlington, the company said in a news release Tuesday.

The move returns the company to Tarrant County and to the part of the state where it started. Six Flags was based in North Texas until 2024, when it relocated to North Carolina following an $8 billion merger with the amusement park operator Cedar Fair.

The company said the return puts its leadership closer to its Texas parks, a group that includes the Arlington park where the chain began, Six Flags Fiesta Texas, two Hurricane Harbor water parks and two Schlitterbahn properties.

What it means locally

Corporate headquarters relocations are followed closely in Tarrant County for reasons that have little to do with rides. A head office brings executive and administrative jobs that tend to pay above the local median, and it anchors a company's civic and philanthropic attention in the place where its leadership actually lives.

Arlington already hosts a concentration of that kind of activity, sitting between Fort Worth and Dallas with the stadium district as its centre of gravity.

The company has not said how many positions will move, over what period, or where in Arlington the offices will sit. Those details usually follow an announcement of this kind rather than accompanying it.

For a chain whose first park opened in Arlington, the symbolism is doing some work here too. The corporate address left North Texas for two years and is now coming back to the city it started in.
