White Castle is preparing to establish its first location in Fort Worth, with plans to open a restaurant in the Chisholm Trail Ranch neighborhood by the middle of 2027. The details come from a state permit application filed in Austin, which outlines the specific site and construction costs for the new establishment.
The $2.1 million facility will be situated at 6013 Retail Way inside the Shops at Chisholm Trail Ranch. Once completed, this site will become the southernmost White Castle restaurant in the United States. The chain, which was founded in Kansas in 1921 and is currently headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, does not currently have any locations in Texas. The nearest existing restaurants are located in the St. Louis and Phoenix metropolitan areas.
While the Fort Worth site is in the planning stages, the company’s first Texas location is already under construction. That restaurant is being built at 4520 Destination Drive within the Marketplace shopping center in Denton County. White Castle is recognized as the nation’s original fast-food hamburger stand, having opened in Wichita, Kansas, in 1921. This opening occurred in the same year that the Pig Stand, often cited as the first drive-in restaurant, opened in Dallas.
The menu at the new Fort Worth location will feature the chain’s signature 2½-inch square hamburgers, which are grilled with chopped onions. In addition to the classic sliders, the restaurant will offer fried chicken and fried fish sliders, as well as a soy-based Impossible Burger. Side options include french fries, mozzarella sticks, onion rings, and chicken rings. Breakfast items will consist of bacon-and-egg sliders and Belgian waffle sliders.
