The regional arts schedule for the week of July 3 through July 9 includes several theatrical productions and museum exhibitions across Fort Worth, Dallas, and neighboring communities. The lineup highlights both final performances of current runs and the debuts of new shows.

In Fort Worth, Stage West Theatre continues its production of Sherlock Holmes and the Adventure of the Ghost Machine through July 5. The narrative follows the detective after his retirement as he investigates the disappearance of Nikola Tesla and Thomas Edison’s Ghost Machine and Death Ray. For visual arts, the Amon Carter Museum of Art hosts Black Photojournalism through July 5. This exhibition displays more than 250 photographs by over 60 photographers who worked across the United States from 1945 to the mid-1980s. Additionally, the Kimbell Art Museum presents The Holy Sepulcher: Treasures from the Terra Sancta Museum, Jerusalem, running through July 12. The display features over 60 objects crafted from silver, gold, enamel, and precious jewels, originating from European monarchs and rulers to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem.

Dallas offers multiple options for theater and museum visitors. The Winspear Opera House begins a new run of Spamalot on July 9, a musical comedy centered on knights searching for the Holy Grail. The show continues through July 12. At the Samuell-Grand Amphitheater, Shakespeare in the Park launches two new productions. Alice in Wonderland begins its run on July 3 and continues through July 17, following a girl who enters a whimsical world after falling down a rabbit hole. Museum exhibitions in Dallas include two closing shows at the Bath House Cultural Center. The Eye of the Artist: Interpretations of Nature Art, featuring works by Penny Wright and Wayne Winn, runs through July 4. Second Surface: Shaping New Futures from Plastic Waste, showcasing art by Steven Kinder and Purva Chawla, also concludes on July 4. Both exhibitions explore connections to nature and the transformation of waste materials.

Other regional events include Sixtiesmania at the Charles W. Eisemann Center for Performing Arts in Richardson on July 11. This musical celebration features songs from the 1960s, including tracks by the Beach Boys. In Farmers Branch, The Firehouse Theatre continues Shrek: The Musical through July 12. The stage adaptation follows the ogre Shrek on an adventure emphasizing inner beauty. In Arlington, the Arlington Museum of Art hosts Chasing Victory: An IndyCar Exhibition through July 12, displaying rare cars and artifacts from nearly a century of Indy car history. In Irving, the Irving Arts Center presents Popol Vuh: The Sacred Book of the Quiché Through Illustration, featuring 65 original artworks by Jaime Arredondo, through October 17. In Fort Worth, Artstillery opens Dichotomy of Compassion on July 3, continuing through July 11. This interdisciplinary experience combines visual art, soundscapes, and community narratives to address aspects of American democracy.
