Residents of a senior living facility in north Fort Worth were evacuated following a loss of electricity that began Wednesday and continued into Thursday. A city spokesman confirmed that the facility, Discovery Village Alliance Town Center, lost power and remained without service during that period.
Trinity Metro buses transported 10 residents from the center located at 3401 Amador Drive to First Baptist Church in Keller. A shelter is currently being established at the church to accommodate the displaced individuals.
The Fort Worth Fire Department inspected the facility and reported that no injuries were found among the residents, according to the city spokesman.
Tri County Electric Cooperative attributed the outage to a windstorm that damaged a substation belonging to a regional transmission provider in the Keller area. In a statement, the cooperative noted that it requested the transmission provider to deploy a mobile substation to serve affected members while permanent repairs are completed.
