Gustos Burger Bar in Fort Worth is operating normally, despite widespread rumors that the establishment was destroyed in a July 4 fire. The restaurant, located on the same block as the blaze near Magnolia Avenue, sustained no damage. The structure housing the business resembles the nearby homes that were scorched, leading observers to mistakenly believe the burger joint was engulfed.
Jonny Arguello, the owner of Gustos Burger Bar, noted that the proximity of the fire created a visual illusion for those viewing the scene from Magnolia Avenue. He received numerous messages from friends and neighbors offering condolences, with many assuming the restaurant had burned down. Arguello found it difficult to correct these misconceptions given the severity of the incident, but he confirmed the business remains open.
The Fort Worth Fire Department has not yet determined the cause of the fire. The incident affected the surrounding community, with one individual receiving treatment for smoke inhalation. Several neighboring businesses, including Sakura Lounge, Shogun Taqueria, Paco's Food Truck, and Secreto cocktail bar, were also unharmed. Some of these establishments temporarily closed to provide shelter for victims and their pets.
News of the fire spread rapidly on the evening of July 4. Arguello was at Six Flags Over Texas with his nephew when his phone began receiving a high volume of inquiries regarding the safety of his restaurant. His general manager traveled to the site and verified that Gustos Burger Bar was safe, attributing the protection to the efforts of the fire department.
