Samantha Davies has ended her broadcasting career at NBC 5 KXAS in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Her final week on air occurred in late June, concluding a 17-year stint with the station that began in 2009. Davies described the departure not as a permanent farewell, but as the conclusion of a specific phase in her professional life.
Davies shared her departure on Instagram, posting a collection of images that trace her career back to 2007. The photos include moments from her time forecasting for the TODAY Show, MSNBC, and CNBC World in 2008. She also included images of colleagues in Dallas, an Emmy award, and other career highlights. In her post, she expressed gratitude to her managers, teammates, and family for their support during a demanding schedule.
Prior to leaving, Davies was responsible for traffic reports from 5 to 7 a.m. on weekdays and delivered the 11 a.m. weather forecast. Her career extends beyond local Dallas-Fort Worth television. She previously worked as a meteorologist for national programs including NBC Weather Plus and MSNBC. Her national broadcasting experience also includes appearances on Nightly News and a role as the morning meteorologist for CNBC World's Squawk Australia.
Davies is originally from Rochester, New York, where she developed an interest in weather during severe winters. Her bio indicates that her focus on meteorology intensified in 1992 when Hurricane Andrew struck Florida. She was present in the state to assist with evacuation efforts and witnessed the storm's aftermath firsthand.
