H-E-B plans to reopen its Fort Worth Alliance grocery store on Saturday morning, contingent upon a successful city inspection. The retailer had been closed since Thursday evening after a fire broke out inside the building, though the pharmacy drive-through remained accessible on Friday.
Mabrie Jackson, H-E-B’s managing director of public affairs, stated in an email that the company is optimistic about the reopening timeline. Staff members are currently working to restock shelves and complete cleaning procedures as quickly and safely as possible. The store, located at 3451 Heritage Trace Parkway in far north Fort Worth, is situated approximately 15 miles north of downtown Fort Worth.
The incident began shortly after 8 p.m. on Thursday when contractors working on refrigerant lines inside the supermarket heard a loud bang. Workers attempted to put out the blaze before emergency responders arrived. The Fort Worth Fire Department received reports of a fire investigation at the location and dispatched more than 100 firefighters to the scene.
Officials determined the blaze was an isolated electrical fire originating in a meat case. The fire was contained without causing any injuries. H-E-B confirmed the nature of the fire in statements released on Friday.
