The Coyote Drive-In theater in Fort Worth is preparing to close its doors after 14 years of operation. The venue will screen its final film this fall, with Monday, Sept. 7, marking the last day of business.
The closure follows a decision by the Tarrant Regional Water District to exercise its right to terminate the drive-in’s lease. Construction on two new canals and a three-acre park is scheduled to begin this fall at the location currently occupied by the theater.
Glenn Solomon, managing partner of Coyote Drive-In Fort Worth, expressed gratitude to patrons for their support over the years. He noted that the founders hoped to create more than just a movie venue, aiming instead for a space where families and friends could gather and make lasting memories.
"We have been incredibly fortunate to be part of the Fort Worth community and the greater Dallas-Fort Worth area, and we are deeply grateful to the hundreds of thousands of guests who chose to spend their evenings with us over the years," Solomon said.
The theater first opened in 2012. The source indicates that the closure is tied directly to the upcoming infrastructure projects and the lease termination by the water district.
