Grover, a long-time Fort Worth resident, has dedicated the past three years to volunteering with Communities in Schools of Greater Tarrant County. She works directly with students at some of the city’s most challenged schools, providing one-on-one assistance that ranges from reading and spelling practice to helping with missing homework assignments.
Her role extends beyond academics. Grover aims to be a consistent figure for children whose home lives may be unstable. She engages in casual activities like playing games or simply talking, hoping to provide a reliable presence during their school week. The support she offers is not always formal; at times, it involves practical aid such as helping students find appropriate clothing.
Ivy Beasley, the volunteer manager for the organization, described Grover as someone staff members can rely on to assist with urgent needs. This reliability was evident this summer when a large shipment of donated school supplies arrived at the nonprofit’s Westworth Village headquarters. Grover helped unload the boxes, count the items, and prepare them for distribution.
Grover also contributed to the setup of three resource rooms when the organization opened its new building in September 2025. During holiday breaks, she assisted in filling approximately 700 food bags to ensure students had meals when school lunch programs were not available.
Her commitment to service predates her current role. Grover spent about seven years volunteering at Taste Community Restaurant and has worked with Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County, The Warm Place, and Girls Inc. of Tarrant County. While studying psychology in college, she originally planned to pursue casework, but the 2008 recession shifted her path toward various nonprofit roles.
