The Fort Worth Police Department has shared data regarding the activities of its joint unit with the United States Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force Delta Team. The information was published in a social media post on July 2.
According to the department, the partnership between the police and the task force resulted in the arrest of individuals in more than 226 violent felony fugitive cases between Feb. 20 and June 20. Of those arrests, twenty individuals are facing murder charges.
The statistics also cover a longer timeframe. Since January, the combined efforts of the task force and the department have led to the clearing of 402 violent warrants through arrests. This total includes the apprehension of more than 40 fugitives accused of murder.
The Delta Team is composed of deputy marshals, officers from the Fort Worth Police Department, and personnel from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. The department stated in its post that the team works daily to remove dangerous individuals from the community to improve safety for residents.
In addition to the fugitive statistics, the department provided updates on two separate shootings investigated last month. The first incident occurred on June 6 in the area of 5310 E. Rosedale St. during the Stop 6 Day celebration, taking place in front of Smokey's Food Mart.
