Drivers traveling through southeast Fort Worth should anticipate significant traffic disruptions starting at 11 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8. Three major freeway segments will be fully closed overnight as part of the ongoing Southeast Connector highway reconstruction project. These closures are scheduled to remain in effect until 6 a.m. on Thursday, July 9.
The first closure affects southbound Loop 820 at its intersection with US-287. Traffic in this direction will be completely blocked and detoured through the surrounding area. Simultaneously, northbound Loop 820 at Sun Valley Drive will also shut down, with vehicles diverted onto the frontage road. Additionally, southbound US-287 at Loop 820 will be fully closed overnight, with traffic similarly redirected to the frontage road.
Because all three full closures occur simultaneously, motorists can expect heavier congestion on nearby frontage roads and local streets as traffic reroutes around the work zones. Even drivers whose routes do not directly intersect with these closed segments may encounter slower travel times in the vicinity.
In addition to the full closures, crews will reduce traffic flow on two other corridors during the same overnight window. Southbound Loop 820 at Lancaster Avenue will be narrowed to a single lane. Northbound US-287 at Interstate 20 will also be reduced to one lane. These lane reductions are expected to create additional slowdowns as drivers navigate around the larger construction zones.
Another set of closures is scheduled for later in the week. Eastbound and westbound Interstate 20 at Anglin Drive will close nightly from July 9 through July 12. These closures run from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., provided weather conditions permit. All traffic on this segment will be diverted to the frontage road.
