Star-Telegram Announces 2026 Preseason All-Area Super Team

The Star-Telegram has released its preseason honors for Fort Worth-area high school football, highlighting Jayshon Gibson as Player of the Year ahead of the upcoming season.

The Texas high school football season is set to begin this week, prompting the release of the Star-Telegram’s Preseason All-Area Super Team. The publication identified standout athletes across the Fort Worth area, beginning with its top individual award recipients.

Jayshon Gibson, a senior running back from Richland High School, was named the Preseason Player of the Year. In the position-specific categories, Carson James, a senior running back at Fort Worth Arlington Heights, received the honor for Offensive Player of the Year. Elijajuan Houston, a senior defensive back at North Crowley, was selected as the Defensive Player of the Year.

The offensive roster features several key players from Southlake Carroll and North Crowley. Hudson Tomcheck, a junior quarterback at Southlake Carroll, and DeShawn Edwards, a senior quarterback at Mansfield Lake Ridge, were named starting quarterbacks. The running back group includes Kiante Ingram from North Crowley and Javian Jones-Priest from Arlington Martin.

Wide receivers selected for the team include Damarion Mays of North Crowley, along with Brody Knowles and Blake Gunter, both seniors from Southlake Carroll. The offensive line is anchored by Tristan Dare and Luke Wilson, senior teammates at Southlake Carroll, alongside Ty McCurry, a junior also from Southlake Carroll.

Additional offensive contributors include Carson Campbell, a sophomore offensive lineman at Fort Worth All Saints, Thomas Muiruri, a senior lineman at Haslet Eaton, and utility players Isaiah Taylor of Keller Central and Noah Tarrant of Fort Worth All Saints. Carver Johnston, a sophomore kicker or punter at Fort Worth All Saints, rounds out the special teams selection.

On defense, Cameron Hall from Mansfield Summit and Tymon Meeks from Aledo lead the defensive line selections. They are joined by Carter James of Fort Worth Arlington Heights, Mason Johnson of Mansfield Lake Ridge, and Kingston Beyer of Fort Worth All Saints. The linebacker corps features Aston Whiteside from Burleson Centennial and Rome Ewell from Springtown.

The defensive back group includes Jerry Outhouse Jr. from North Crowley, Kevin Grant from Arlington Martin, Jordan Hall from Aledo, and Chayce Davis from Euless Trinity. Jeremiah Taylor of Keller Central was added as a utility player.
