Make-A-Wish North Texas announced a seven-figure donation from Andy Dunning and Jaime Wester to support its "Two Years, Too Long" campaign. The gift is designated exclusively for children in the Fort Worth area who are currently on the waiting list.
Approximately 380 local children are awaiting their wishes. This commitment represents the first time the organization has received a donation of this magnitude specifically earmarked for Fort Worth residents. The funds aim to reduce wait times and grant wishes more quickly for families in the region.
Andy Dunning stated that he and Wester have felt a connection to the organization since 1998. He described the $1 million pledge as an honor, noting that Fort Worth is their home. The donation supports both the children receiving wishes and the families who assist them throughout the process.
Dunning has been involved with Make-A-Wish North Texas for over two decades. He previously served as the auctioneer for Wish Night events and co-chaired the 2016 gala, which raised more than $2 million. He is scheduled to become Chairman of the Board of Directors on September 1, 2026, having joined the board in 2024.
Kim Elenez, chief executive officer of Make-A-Wish North Texas, highlighted the donors' long-standing support. She noted that the gift builds momentum for the campaign and encourages others in Fort Worth to help ensure no eligible child waits longer than necessary.
The City of Fort Worth recognized the announcement with a proclamation from Mayor Pro Tem Carlos Flores. The document emphasized the urgent need to support local children waiting for wishes and underscored the role of community leaders in facilitating these grants.
