Residents in Valley View, Texas, are being asked to conserve water following a malfunction at one of the city’s water wells. City officials announced that repairs commenced on Thursday and are anticipated to last one to two days.
While the city's reserve water tanks are currently at capacity, officials advise residents to restrict their water consumption to ensure adequate supply for household needs, public safety, and emergency services during this repair period.
To aid in this effort, the city has put in place several restrictions. These include prohibiting the watering of lawns, gardens, or landscaping, as well as the filling of swimming pools and hot tubs. Additionally, washing vehicles is only permitted when necessary for public safety or commercial reasons, and cleaning paved surfaces is discouraged. Residents are urged to minimize all non-essential water use.
Cooke County Emergency Services noted that while contractors estimate repairs will take one to two days, this schedule could be adjusted. They currently do not foresee any boil water notices, but updates will be provided if circumstances change. Officials stressed that unnecessary water use could exacerbate the situation, urging residents to stay updated on the repairs.
Princeton is about 56 miles northeast of Fort Worth.
