Fort Worth served as the launch point for a new Samuel L. Jackson series, with production on the Paramount+ crime drama "Frisco King" beginning in the city in late March before spreading across North Texas.
"Frisco King" is a spinoff of "Tulsa King," created and written by Taylor Sheridan. Jackson stars as Russell Lee Washington Jr., a hitman he introduced in the final episodes of "Tulsa King" season three opposite Sylvester Stallone. The eight-episode first season follows the character as he builds his own criminal operation. The show was originally titled "NOLA King" and set in New Orleans before Paramount+ moved it to North Texas and renamed it for Frisco.
Since the Fort Worth start, filming has continued at locations including Plano, Dallas, Denton, Keller, Southlake and Frisco, with the schedule running through July. Legacy Casting, a Texas casting company, has posted repeated calls for local background actors, including for Fort Worth scenes, with listed pay for extras generally ranging from about $110 to $350 a day depending on the role.
The cast also includes Kai Caster, Asa Germann, Lilah Pate and Savanna Gann. Paramount+ has not announced a premiere date.
Fort Worth is one of several North Texas cities standing in for the show's world. The series takes its name and setting from Frisco, about 40 miles to the northeast.
