Power Plays Define Late Inning Surge
A three-run home run by Aranda in the top of the 10th inning proved to be the decisive blow, propelling the Tampa Bay Rays to a 6-3 victory over the Texas Rangers on Saturday. The win improves Tampa Bay’s record to 85-57, while the Rangers fall to 70-73.
The game featured five home runs in total, with both teams getting early offensive production. In the first inning, Wander Franco launched a solo shot to center field, measuring 425 feet, to give Tampa Bay an initial 1-0 lead. The Rays added to their advantage in the fifth inning when Franco’s teammate, Franco, homered to right field (384 feet), extending the lead to 2-0.
Texas responded in the sixth inning with a solo home run by Pederson to right field (409 feet), cutting the deficit to 2-1. However, the Rangers’ offense remained quiet until the bottom of the eighth inning, where they managed to tie the game at 3-3. The rally began with Hicks singling to left field, allowing Aranda to score and placing Caminero in scoring position.
Carter then homered to right-center field (421 feet), followed by Foscue doubling to center to bring Cauley home.
Pitching Performance Highlights
Tampa Bay’s Drew Rasmussen was the standout pitcher for the Rays, delivering a strong seven-inning performance. He allowed just three hits and one earned run while striking out seven batters without issuing a walk.
His outing set the tone for the Rays' bullpen, which included Kevin Kelly, who pitched 0.1 innings and allowed two earned runs, and Cam Booser, who secured the save with 0.2 scoreless innings.
