A Narrow Victory in Austin
The Texas Longhorns secured a hard-fought 34-27 victory over the visiting Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium. The win improved both teams' records to 5-2, leaving them tied in the standings as they navigate the middle of their conference schedules.
First Half Dominance
Texas established an early rhythm, taking a 10-3 lead by halftime thanks to efficient offensive execution and strong kicking. Arch Manning opened the scoring with a two-yard run, followed by a 50-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Wingo. Manning added another rushing score, a one-yard plunge, while Raleek Brown contributed significantly on the ground, carrying the ball 23 times for 157 yards.
Ole Miss responded with steady field goal drives led by kicker Lucas Carneiro, who connected from 46 and 39 yards out. However, the Rebels could not match Texas's explosive plays in the first half, trailing 24-10 at the break after Michael Terry III’s two-yard touchdown run extended the Longhorns' advantage.
Ole Miss Rally Falls Short
The second half saw Ole Miss mount a determined comeback attempt. Kam Franklin recovered a fumble for a touchdown, and quarterback Trinidad Chambliss threw two scoring passes to Horatio Fields, including a 27-yard strike in the fourth quarter that tied the game at 24-24. Despite Chambliss’s efforts, he struggled with consistency, completing just 25 of 52 passes for 250 yards and three interceptions.
Texas regained control when Manning executed another one-yard touchdown run, followed by a Gianni Spetic field goal to push the lead to 34-24. Ole Miss managed one more field goal from Carneiro, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit.
