Nico Collins’ availability for Houston’s Week 3 meeting with the Indianapolis Colts remains uncertain after the wide receiver was absent from the portion of Wednesday’s practice open to reporters.
Collins was listed among several Texans who were not seen during that session. Tight end Dalton Schultz, offensive linemen Trent Brown and Ed Ingram, and edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney were also not present in the media-access period.
Collins has missed Houston’s last three practices and did not play against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2. He sustained a Grade 1 hamstring strain in practice before that game, and the injury could keep him out for more than one week. His practice participation later in the week will help determine whether he can face Indianapolis, but his status is not yet clear.
The Texans are 0-2, and Collins’ potential absence would leave added responsibility for Xavier Hutchinson, Kayshon Boutte and Jaylin Noel. The three receivers combined for seven catches against Cincinnati, while no Houston wideout had more than three receptions or 40 yards in that game.
