TCU added North Crowley offensive tackle Gabriel Brooks to its 2027 recruiting class after he changed his commitment from Stephen F. Austin, Brooks announced on social media Sept. 17.

Brooks said he made the decision after discussions with his family and personal prayer. He also described the move as a decision to remain close to home.

The 6-foot-5, 265-pound lineman had received offers primarily from Football Championship Subdivision programs, including SFA and Southern University. TCU is Brooks’ first offer from a Football Bowl Subdivision school, and he chose the Horned Frogs’ opportunity to compete in a Power Four conference.

Brooks has been part of a North Crowley team that opened the season 3-0. The Panthers’ victories have included wins against Aledo, Southlake Carroll and Summer Creek, a team from the Houston area. North Crowley is scheduled to play at Duncanville at 7 p.m. Friday.

Brooks is the 19th player committed to TCU’s 2027 class. The class is ranked No. 54 nationally and eighth in the Big 12, according to the report by sports.yahoo.com.
