Wide receiver Kayshon Boutte held his first media session since being traded from the New England Patriots to the Houston Texans, addressing questions about his transition and departure from New England. This press conference occurred one week after the trade, during which Boutte discussed his initial impressions of the Texans and the circumstances surrounding his exit from the Patriots.
Boutte had requested a trade during the offseason, citing a desire for a larger role as a key reason for his departure. He noted that the Patriots had signed two new players, Romeo Doubs and A.J. Brown, which significantly impacted his position on the team.
Doubs received a four-year contract worth $68 million, while Brown was acquired through a trade involving first- and fifth-round draft picks.
As a result of these acquisitions, Boutte found himself relegated to a part-time starter role in 2024, where he recorded 42 receptions for 719 yards and seven touchdowns. During training camp, he was positioned as the fourth wide receiver behind Doubs, Brown, and DeMario Douglas.
Head coach Mike Vrabel indicated that Boutte might not have been active for games this season, a comment that Boutte chose not to take personally.
