Texas defensive lineman Hero Kanu has been selected as a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, an award recognizing a scholarship athlete who combines academic achievement, football performance and leadership.
The National Football Foundation announced Kanu’s selection, Burnt Orange Nation reported. The source did not provide additional details about the semifinal process.
Texas has produced finalists for the award in each of the last two seasons. Linebacker Trey Moore was a finalist in 2025, following center Jake Majors’ finalist appearance in 2024.
The program has also had two Campbell Trophy winners. Defensive end Sam Acho received the honor in 2010, and center Dallas Griffin won it in 2007.
