The Houston Texans have made roster adjustments by signing center Gavin Gerhardt and releasing rookie defensive tackle Dominic Bailey from their practice squad. This move was necessary to accommodate the addition of quarterback Mark Gronowski, who was also signed to the practice squad on September 8.

Bailey's release follows his earlier return to the practice squad after being cut during the final roster deadline. His departure marks a notable shift for the Texans, as he was brought back only to be released again. Alongside Bailey, Ka’ena De Cambra was also released as part of the roster changes.

Gavin Gerhardt, a seventh-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, joins the Texans with a background as a 49-game starter, recognized for his leadership and football intelligence. NFL analysts have noted his potential as a positional blocker, emphasizing his ability to maintain protection against defensive rushers.

Gerhardt's previous selection by the Minnesota Vikings was influenced by his fit within the team's culture and his cognitive understanding of the game.

With Gerhardt now on the roster, he joins a group that includes starting center Evan Brown and 2025 starter Jake Andrews, as well as rookie first-round pick Keylan Rutledge. The Texans will look to develop Gerhardt's skills further as they navigate their roster changes in preparation for the upcoming season.
