The Dallas Cowboys are gearing up for Week 1 of the NFL season with a largely healthy roster, having avoided significant injuries during the offseason.
However, two players are currently dealing with injuries that may affect their availability for the season opener. Defensive lineman Jonathan Bullard is managing an abs/groin injury and has missed considerable time this offseason. He was seen participating in rehab activities on September 1, which suggests he may have a chance to play, although he might need additional time to fully recover.
Ajani Cornelius, who has also been absent from practice, was spotted doing rehab work on the same day as Bullard. His progress will determine if he can participate in Week 1. Cornelius had a strong training camp and secured a reserve spot on the roster, showcasing versatility as he has experience playing both guard and tackle.
In addition to these players, the Cowboys have placed linebacker Marist Liufau and cornerback Devin Moore on injured reserve. Liufau suffered a fractured forearm during the preseason finale, which required surgery. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer indicated that Liufau is a competitive player and could return after the mandatory four-week absence.
Moore, who has faced injury challenges previously, is dealing with a hip injury and had also missed time in training camp due to a groin issue. Given his history, it remains uncertain how much he will contribute this season.
