Baylor University quarterback DJ Lagway is currently considered day-to-day due to an ankle injury, as stated by head coach Dave Aranda on Monday. The team is optimistic that Lagway will be available to play in their upcoming game against Prairie View A&M this Saturday.

Lagway sustained the injury during Baylor's narrow 17-16 defeat to Auburn in their season opener on Saturday. Despite the injury, he played the entire game and managed to lead the Bears' offense, though he was limited in his running ability.

In his debut for Baylor, Lagway completed 27 of 54 passes for a total of 333 yards, achieving two touchdowns while also throwing one interception. He played a crucial role in helping the Bears recover from a 17-10 deficit late in the fourth quarter.

Notably, he connected on a 28-yard pass to Gavin Freeman on a critical fourth-and-10 play, followed by a 27-yard pass to Jadon Porter that brought the team to the Auburn 5-yard line, culminating in a 5-yard touchdown pass to Freeman with just 9 seconds remaining in the game.

Further updates on Lagway's condition are expected as the week progresses, with Aranda indicating that the team will assess his status based on his performance in practice on Tuesday and Wednesday.
